Web developer resume example

A développeur web builds the sites and web applications people use in a browser. In a web agency, you move between several client projects: a showcase site in WordPress this week, an online shop on Shopify or PrestaShop the next, with fixed deadlines and design mock-ups from Figma to integrate pixel by pixel.

In a product company, you work on one application over time, usually with React, Vue or Angular on the front end and an API behind it. The job includes making pages fast, responsive on mobile and accessible, since French public bodies must follow the RGAA accessibility standard and the European accessibility rules now also cover many private services such as online shops and banking sites. You also deal with SEO basics, cookie consent under GDPR rules, browser bugs and the occasional urgent fix on a live site.

Former graphic designer now building websites. After years producing mock-ups for agencies, I trained in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and React and want to join a team where I can turn designs into accessible, fast interfaces.

Tips

  • Put a portfolio link at the top: live sites or repositories matter more than the list of technologies.
  • Say whether you are front-end, back-end or full-stack, and with which main framework.
  • For agency work, list the types of projects and clients rather than every site.
  • Mention accessibility and performance work, which French employers increasingly look for.
  • Make sure your own CV or portfolio site is fast and works on mobile.

Mistakes to avoid

  • A portfolio with broken links or unfinished demo sites.
  • Mixing web developer and web designer skills without saying which is your core job.
  • Listing outdated tools (jQuery-only projects) as your main skills.
  • No mention of the project context or of who used the site.

Working as a web developer in France

Web developer is not regulated in France, and many employers hire on portfolio. Recognised routes include the professional title Développeur web et web mobile (DWWM, Bac+2 level), the BUT Métiers du multimédia et de l'internet, the BUT informatique and master's degrees for more senior roles. Knowing the RGAA accessibility framework and GDPR rules for cookies is a plus with French clients. Search with « développeur web », « développeur front-end », « développeur full stack », « intégrateur web » and framework names such as « développeur React ».

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between web developer and intégrateur web?

In French ads, an intégrateur web turns mock-ups into HTML and CSS, often in a CMS, with limited programming. A développeur web writes application logic, front end or back end. Many junior roles mix both, so read the missions carefully.

Is a bootcamp enough to get hired?

It can be, especially if combined with a recognised professional title such as DWWM and a solid portfolio. Agencies and small companies hire bootcamp graduates; larger companies may prefer a Bac+3 or Bac+5. Your projects will carry most of the weight.

Should I include WordPress on my CV?

Yes if you have used it professionally: many French agencies and small businesses still run on it. Specify what you did, such as custom themes, plugin development or simple configuration, so recruiters can judge your level.
