Electromechanical technician resume example

An électromécanicien works where mechanics and electrics meet: a motor that trips, a sensor that no longer detects, a gearbox overheating because its drive is badly set.

In a factory, the electromechanical technician is often the first person called when a machine stops, precisely because they can check both the wiring cabinet and the moving parts. A typical intervention starts with the operator's description and the alarm on the HMI, continues with measurements on the motor, the contactor or the variable speed drive, and may end with a bearing change or a new limit switch. Between breakdowns, the work follows the preventive plan, with thermography of electrical cabinets, insulation tests on motors and mechanical checks. Some electromechanics work for equipment manufacturers and travel to install and commission machines at customer sites.

Summaries for your profile

Entry level

Electromechanical technician with a Titre professionnel Électromécanicien de maintenance industrielle obtained in work-study at [Company]. I wire and replace motors, sensors and contactors, change mechanical parts and record my interventions in the CMMS.

Experienced

Électromécanicien with [x] years on [plastics/food/logistics] production sites. I troubleshoot faults that cross mechanics and electrics, set variable speed drives, test motors and follow the preventive plan, including thermography rounds on electrical cabinets.

Career change

Former building electrician who moved to industrial maintenance. I bring solid wiring and safety habits, and I have added mechanical skills (bearings, transmissions, pneumatics) through a training course and [x] months on production lines.

Tips

  • Show that you cover both sides with one example that needed both.
  • Give your habilitation levels and the date of your last training.
  • Name drive and PLC brands you know, even at diagnosis level.
  • Mention the voltage range you work on (low voltage, sometimes HTA).
  • Specify whether you worked on site or in the field for a manufacturer.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Claiming PLC programming when you only read inputs and outputs.
  • Listing tools (multimeter, wrench) instead of the problems you solve.
  • Forgetting the industrial sector, which changes the equipment and standards.
  • No result in your bullets: what worked again afterwards?

Working as an electromechanical technician in France

Useful search terms: électromécanicien, électromécanicien de maintenance industrielle, technicien électromécanicien, agent de maintenance électromécanique. French qualifications include the Titre professionnel Électromécanicien de maintenance industrielle, the Bac pro MSPC, the BTS Maintenance des systèmes and the BUT Génie industriel et maintenance. The job itself is not regulated, but any electrical work requires a habilitation issued by your employer after training under standard NF C 18-510, and CACES certificates are needed to drive forklifts or aerial platforms. Nuclear sites require additional clearances. Many electromechanics start through work-study or temp missions in industry before a permanent contract.

Frequently asked questions

Is électromécanicien the same as technicien de maintenance?

They overlap a lot. In France, a technicien de maintenance industrielle is often expected to cover PLCs and improvement work, while an électromécanicien is focused on motors, wiring and mechanical parts. Read the ad: if it mentions TIA Portal or supervision, it leans towards the technician profile.

Should I list my electrical habilitation even if it has expired?

Mention the levels and the date of training. Habilitation is issued by each employer, and refresher training is usually recommended every three years. A recent course is reassuring, but an older one still shows you know the rules.

How long should my resume be?

One page is enough for most technician profiles, two if you have many years with different equipment. Put certificates and habilitations near the top, because recruiters check them first, then the equipment you maintain.
