Working as a real estate agent in France
Real estate transactions in France are regulated by the Hoguet law. Running an agency requires the professional card 'Transaction sur immeubles et fonds de commerce', issued by the Chamber of Commerce (CCI) and renewed every three years, with conditions on diplomas or experience, financial guarantee and a clean criminal record. Negotiators, whether employees or independent agents commerciaux, work under an attestation issued by the cardholder and must follow regular continuing training. Common diplomas include the BTS Professions immobilières and real estate bachelor's degrees. Good French is essential for contracts, notaries and banks.
