Fast food crew member cover letter example

Most chains apply online with a short form, and the cover letter is optional or a few lines. If you write one, keep it concrete: your availability, any experience of pace and customers, and the stations or tasks you can do.

Subject: Application for a crew member position, [Restaurant name] [City]

Dear [Hiring Manager's name],

I am applying for a crew member position at your [City] restaurant. I am a student at [University] and I can work weekday evenings from [time], plus Saturdays and Sundays. I live ten minutes away, so closing shifts are not a problem for me.

Last summer I worked for [x] weeks in a beach snack bar in [Town]. I took orders, prepared sandwiches and drinks, and handled the till at peak times with a queue that did not stop. I also cleaned the counter and fridges at the end of the day and filled in the temperature sheet.

I would like to learn all the stations in your restaurant, kitchen as well as counter. I am used to following procedures and I keep my area clean even when it is busy. I speak French and English, and some Spanish.

I am available for an interview at your convenience, and I can start as soon as my schedule is confirmed.

Kind regards,[First name Last name][Phone number]

Frequently asked questions

Is a cover letter needed for a fast food job?

Rarely. Most applications go through the chain's website or a recruitment platform with a short form. A few lines in the message field, giving your availability and any experience, are enough and often read before the resume.

What happens after I apply?

Usually a short interview with a manager, sometimes a group session, and a check of your availability and documents. Some restaurants hold recruitment days where you can walk in. Training on the stations is done in the first shifts.

Can I apply to several restaurants of the same chain?

Yes. Many chains in France work through franchisees, so each restaurant or group of restaurants hires separately. Apply to the ones closest to you or to your campus, and mention it in your message.
