Fast food crew member resume example

A fast food crew member in France (équipier polyvalent) rotates between stations during the same shift. At the counter or the drive-through you take orders, handle payment and keep an eye on the kiosk screens.

In the kitchen you work the grill or fryer to set times and temperatures, assemble burgers or sandwiches to the chain's build chart, and label everything with its holding time. Lobby duty means clearing trays, restocking sauces and cleaning toilets on a set schedule. Peak hours are short and intense: lunch, then the evening rush, then the late-night delivery orders. Outside them, you unpack deliveries, check fridge temperatures, record them on the hygiene sheet and prepare the next rush. Many crew members are students on part-time contracts with shifts that end after closing.

Tips

  • List every station you can work: counter, drive, grill, fryer, assembly, lobby. Managers plan shifts by station.
  • Write your availability in detail, including closing shifts.
  • Mention any food hygiene training, even an internal one.
  • For a first job, use school, sport or volunteering to show teamwork and punctuality.
  • If you trained new staff or led a shift, say so: it is the first step to crew trainer or shift manager.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Hiding a previous fast food job because you think it does not count; it does.
  • Writing vague availability like 'flexible' without days and hours.
  • Forgetting to mention languages, useful in tourist areas and stations.

Working as a fast food crew member in France

Search for équipier polyvalent, équipier de restauration rapide or employé polyvalent de restauration. No diploma is required. Relevant French qualifications include the CAP Production et service en restaurations (rapide, collective, cafétéria), the Titre professionnel Employé polyvalent en restauration and the CQP Employé de restauration rapide, but most chains train crew members in-house. Each commercial restaurant must have at least one person trained in food hygiene. Contracts are usually part-time, under the quick-service restaurant collective agreement, with evening, weekend and late-night shifts. International students can work part-time on a student residence permit within an annual hour limit; other non-EU candidates need a permit allowing work.

Frequently asked questions

Can I work in fast food in France as an international student?

Yes. A student residence permit allows part-time work alongside studies, within a yearly limit of hours. Quick-service restaurants are among the most common employers of students because they offer part-time contracts and evening and weekend shifts.

Do I need a food hygiene certificate?

Not personally to be hired. The law requires at least one person trained in food hygiene in each commercial restaurant, and chains train crew members internally on their own procedures. Having completed a hygiene course is still a plus on your resume.

Does a fast food job look bad on a resume later?

No. French recruiters know it teaches pace, teamwork and reliability. Present it with concrete facts, such as stations worked, shift responsibilities or training others, and it will count for later jobs in retail, hospitality or management.
