Subject: Application: Storekeeper, [Company], [City]

Dear [Mr/Ms Last Name],

I am applying for the storekeeper position at [Company]. I have [x] years of experience managing industrial stores and I am looking for a role where I can take full responsibility for receiving and stock accuracy.

At [Previous company], I managed the spare parts and consumables store for a production site. I received and checked deliveries against purchase orders, recorded them in SAP and stored parts in their assigned locations. I issued parts to maintenance technicians, sometimes urgently during breakdowns, so I learned to keep critical items easy to find and to warn purchasing before a stock-out.

I set up weekly cycle counts on the most used references, which made the annual inventory much quicker. I also handled supplier returns with the necessary documents. I hold a CACES R489 categories 1B and 3 and I am trained to store hazardous products.

I am available from [date] and would be glad to visit your store and discuss your organisation.

Kind regards,[First Name Last Name][Phone] | [Email]

Frequently asked questions

Should I mention I can work alone?

Yes, if it is true. In many plants and branches, the storekeeper runs the store alone or with one colleague. Showing that you organise your own work, handle urgent requests and keep records without supervision is a strong point.

Is counter experience useful for a storekeeper role?

Very useful in car parts, building materials or industrial supply branches, where the storekeeper also serves trade customers. Mention product knowledge and how you handle requests at the counter. For pure warehouse jobs, keep it shorter.

Should I mention hazardous products training?

Yes, if you have it. Plant stores often hold oils, solvents, gas cylinders or aerosols that must be segregated according to their CLP pictograms and safety data sheets. A line such as « trained in storage of hazardous products » or an ADR awareness course reassures the HSE manager, who is often involved in hiring for the store.
