Subject: Application: Logistics Operative, [Company], [City]

Dear [Mr/Ms Last Name],

I am applying for the logistics operative position at your [City] warehouse. I have [x] years of experience in retail and e-commerce warehouses and I enjoy working on different stations depending on the day's needs.

At [Previous company], I started in picking, then moved to receiving and put-away. I check deliveries against the purchase order, record them in the WMS and store pallets with a reach truck. During peaks I return to picking or shipping, and I also process customer returns. One morning, I noticed that a delivery had been labelled with the wrong reference: I blocked it before put-away and informed stock control, which avoided several days of picking errors.

I hold CACES R489 categories 1B, 3 and 5. I am used to running cycle counts and explaining the receiving procedure to new temporary staff, which my team leader asked me to do during the last peak season.

Rotating between morning and afternoon teams suits me, and I accept extra Saturdays in November and December. I could start on [date].

Kind regards,[First Name Last Name][Phone] | [Email]

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a logistics operative and an order picker?

The order picker mainly prepares outgoing orders. The logistics operative covers more of the flow: receiving, storage, inventory, shipping and sometimes returns. In your letter, show this wider range if you have it; it often leads to more stable positions.

Should I mention that I want to become team leader?

Yes, briefly. Many warehouse team leaders started as logistics operatives. Saying you would like to take on more responsibility, while showing you know the operational work well, makes your application stronger.

Can I send the same letter to every warehouse?

Keep the same structure but change the details: the sector (food, e-commerce, industry), the shifts and the equipment mentioned in the ad. A sentence showing you know what the site handles makes a difference.
