Room attendant cover letter example

Head housekeepers rarely ask for a long letter. A short message showing where you have worked, that you know the difference between departure and stayover rooms, and when you are available is enough.

Being reliable matters more than writing well.

Subject: Application for a room attendant position, [Hotel name]

Dear [Hiring Manager's name],

I am applying for the room attendant position at [Hotel name]. I live in [City] and I can work weekdays and weekends, including public holidays.

For the past [x] years I have worked as a room attendant at [Previous hotel], a [x]-star hotel with business guests during the week and tourists at weekends. Each shift I clean departure and stayover rooms to the hotel's checklist, change the linen, scrub and disinfect bathrooms and restock amenities. I prepare my trolley before the shift and sort linen for the laundry at the end.

I take care with the details the head housekeeper checks, and I report leaks or broken equipment straight away so rooms are not blocked for maintenance. I respect guests' belongings and always hand lost property to reception.

I would be glad to meet you or to do a trial day. You can reach me at [phone number].

Kind regards,[First name Last name]

Frequently asked questions

Can I apply directly at the hotel?

Yes. Ask reception for the head housekeeper and leave your resume, ideally in the early afternoon when rooms are mostly done. Many hotels also recruit through cleaning companies and temp agencies, so apply there too.

How much French do I need for housekeeping?

A basic level is usually enough to understand the room list and instructions, and many housekeeping teams are multilingual. Some French helps with guests and safety instructions. Say your level honestly in the letter.

Is a seasonal job a good way in?

Yes. Hotels in ski resorts and seaside towns hire many room attendants for the season, sometimes with housing. A good season often leads to a return contract or a recommendation for a year-round hotel.
