Beautician cover letter example

Institut owners and spa managers want to know three things: which treatments you can perform on your own, whether you will respect hygiene and timing, and whether you can sell products without pushing.

Keep the letter concrete and mention the brands or protocols you already know.

Subject: Application for Beautician position, [Institut name]

Dear [Manager's name],

Your institut has built its reputation on facial treatments with [Brand], a brand I have used for the past [x] years, and I would like to join a team that puts skin care at the centre of its work. I am therefore sending you my application for the beautician position.

I hold the CAP Esthétique, cosmétique, parfumerie and the BTS Métiers de l'esthétique. Since [year] I have worked at [Previous institut] in [City], where I perform waxing, manicures, gel nails, facials and wellbeing massages throughout the day. I start every facial with a skin diagnosis and a few questions about allergies and current treatments, and I adapt the protocol when the skin reacts. Clients regularly book me again for facials and waxing, which I take as a sign that they feel at ease in the cabin.

Product advice is part of my daily work. I recommend a home routine only when it follows from what I observed during the treatment, and I find that clients come back for products when the advice is honest.

I am available on Saturdays and can start on [date]. I would be glad to carry out a test treatment so you can see my technique and my cabin habits.

Yours sincerely,[First Name Last Name][Phone] | [Email]

Frequently asked questions

Is a test treatment common when hiring beauticians?

Yes, many instituts ask for a waxing session, a manicure or a short facial on a colleague. They watch your hygiene, your gestures and how you talk to the client as much as the result. Ask beforehand which treatment they want to see.

Should I write my letter in French?

For a French institut, yes, because the whole job happens in French and the letter shows your level. Spas in international hotels in Paris, on the Riviera or in ski resorts may accept English, and your other languages become a strong point there.

How do I apply after a career change?

Lead with the CAP you have completed and the placements you did, then connect your previous job to the institut: welcoming customers, selling, organising a schedule. Owners often appreciate the maturity of career changers, especially with an adult clientele.
