Warehouse team leader resume example

A chef d'équipe logistique leads a team of order pickers, forklift drivers and dock workers through one shift in a warehouse. Before the team arrives, you check the order pool in the WMS, the trucks expected and the absences, then split people between receiving, put-away, picking and loading.

During the shift you watch the progress against cut-off times, move people between areas when one falls behind, release waves of orders and deal with blocked items, damaged pallets and missing stock. You remain hands-on: driving a forklift during a rush, checking a sensitive load or training a temporary worker on the scanner. You enforce safety rules on forklift traffic and manual handling, keep an eye on each driver's authorisation, and finish with a report to the supervisor or site manager.

Career change

Former fast-food shift manager moving into logistics after obtaining my CACES R489. I already planned shifts, trained new staff and handled rushes under time pressure, and I want to use that experience to lead a warehouse team.

Tips

  • State team size, shift and type of warehouse at the top of each role.
  • List your CACES categories and SST certificate with dates.
  • Show that you still work on the floor when needed, since French employers expect it.
  • Give an example of how you handled a peak or a staff shortage.
  • Mention the WMS and scanning system you used.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Writing only your forklift experience and nothing about leading people.
  • Forgetting to mention temporary staff management.
  • Omitting shift patterns and weekend availability.
  • Using titles like « logistics manager » that overstate the role.

Working as a warehouse team leader in France

The role is not regulated, but forklift driving is: the employer must give each driver a written driving authorisation after training and a medical check, and the CACES R489 is the usual proof of training. Team leaders often have a CAP or Bac pro Logistique, a titre professionnel or internal promotion behind them; an SST first aid certificate is often appreciated. The status is usually agent de maîtrise. Spoken French is needed to brief teams and read WMS screens. Search for « chef d'équipe logistique », « chef d'équipe entrepôt », « chef d'équipe préparation » or « superviseur logistique ».

Frequently asked questions

How do I move from forklift driver to team leader?

Show that you already do part of the job: replacing the team leader, training newcomers, handling incidents. Ask your employer for a team leader training or a titre professionnel, and put these responsibilities in your resume. Many French warehouses promote internally.

Do I need a CACES as team leader?

Usually yes. Team leaders often drive forklifts during rushes and must understand the equipment their team uses. Employers expect CACES R489 categories matching the site, and the employer must issue a driving authorisation for each driver, including you.

Is an SST certificate useful?

Yes. The Sauveteur Secouriste du Travail certificate trains you in workplace first aid and prevention. Warehouses need trained staff on every shift, and a team leader with SST is a practical asset. Mention it with its renewal date.
