Logistics manager resume example

A logistics manager runs the flows of a site or a network: inbound deliveries, storage, order preparation and transport to customers. The week alternates between the floor and the office.

In the morning you review yesterday's indicators with team leaders (service rate, productivity, errors, damage), adjust staffing for the day and check that agency temps have arrived. Later you might negotiate a rate with a carrier, prepare the peak season plan, work with the IT team on a WMS change or study a layout to save travel time in picking. You are also responsible for safety: traffic plans, loading protocols with carriers, the risk assessment document, and the site's environmental rules if it is a classified warehouse. Many logistics managers also manage team leaders and staff representatives.

Working as a logistics manager in France

In France, search for responsable logistique, responsable d'entrepôt, responsable de site logistique, responsable des opérations logistiques or supply chain manager. Most hold a Bac+3 to Bac+5 in logistics, transport or supply chain (BUT Management de la logistique et des transports, licences professionnelles, masters, business or engineering schools), but experienced team leaders are also promoted. The role is not regulated, though you will apply French labour law on shifts and working time, the risk assessment document (DUERP), loading protocols with carriers and, for many warehouses, the environmental rules for classified installations (ICPE). The position usually has cadre status. Fluent French is expected to manage teams and staff representatives.

Frequently asked questions

How do I show results without confidential figures?

Use relative terms or placeholders: « reduced picking errors after a new labelling process », « productivity improved by [x] ». Recruiters understand confidentiality. What matters is that you show a link between your action and an indicator the site follows.

Should I include team leader experience?

Yes. Many logistics managers in France started as team leaders or operations supervisors. Present that role with the team size, shifts and the indicators you were responsible for. It proves you know the floor, which employers value.

Is an engineering degree needed?

No. A Bac+3 to Bac+5 in logistics, transport or supply chain is common, and business school or engineering profiles are also hired. Experience running a site often weighs more than the diploma, especially for operational roles.
