HR assistant resume example

An HR assistant in France handles the administrative side of the employee lifecycle, where French labour law leaves little room for error.

When someone is hired, you file the DPAE (the pre-hiring declaration), prepare the employment contract from templates, enrol the new employee in the company health plan (mutuelle) and book the occupational health appointment. During employment, you track absences, sick leave certificates and paid leave, update the employee register, organise mandatory interviews and help with training files. When someone leaves, you prepare the end-of-contract documents. Depending on the company, you may also post job ads, schedule interviews or collect variable pay data for payroll. You are often the first contact for employees' questions, so you need to know the collective agreement that applies to the company.

Working as an HR assistant in France

Search for assistant RH, assistante ressources humaines, assistant de gestion du personnel or gestionnaire administration du personnel. No diploma is regulated, but employers expect Bac+2 to Bac+3: BTS GPME or SAM, Licence professionnelle GRH, Bachelor in HR, or the Titre Professionnel Assistant Ressources Humaines. Apprenticeship is a very common way in. The job is shaped by French employment law: the DPAE before any hire, the single personnel register, occupational health follow-up, mandatory professional interviews and the collective agreement (convention collective) of the sector. Fluent French is essential, as most documents and employee conversations are in French.

Frequently asked questions

Is international HR experience useful in France?

Yes for recruitment, HRIS and employee relations skills. French personnel administration is specific (DPAE, collective agreements, occupational health, mandatory interviews), so state what you know and show that you are learning the French framework, for example through a short training course.

Which degree do recruiters expect?

A Bac+2 to Bac+3 is typical: BTS GPME or SAM, a Licence professionnelle in HR, a Bachelor in HR, or the Titre Professionnel Assistant Ressources Humaines. Many HR assistants start as apprentices while studying for a Bachelor or a Master in HR.

Should I mention payroll on an HR assistant resume?

Yes, if you collected variables or checked pay slips. Many HR assistant roles in SMEs include payroll support, and the overlap is valued. If you processed full payroll, that is a stronger skill and deserves a separate line.
