Recruiter resume example

A recruiter in France (chargé or chargée de recrutement) runs hiring from the brief to the signed offer. You meet the hiring manager to understand the role, write the job ad, publish it on job boards such as France Travail, APEC for managerial roles, LinkedIn or Welcome to the Jungle, and search directly for profiles.

Then come phone screens, interviews, skills tests, reference checks and shortlists presented to the manager. Recruiters work in-house, in recruitment agencies, in executive search firms or in temp agencies, where the pace is faster and volumes higher. French law frames the job: selection must rely only on the ability to do the job, questions about private life are off limits, and candidate data must be handled under the GDPR, including how long resumes are kept.

Tips

  • Specify the types of profiles and levels you recruit.
  • Say whether you worked in-house, in an agency or in a temp agency, since the job differs.
  • Name your sourcing tools and ATS.
  • Use placeholders for volumes you can explain at interview, such as roles filled per year.
  • Show how you worked with managers, not only with candidates.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Stating results you cannot explain, such as a fill rate without context.
  • Listing every job board without saying how you used them.
  • Forgetting candidate experience, which recruiters are judged on.
  • A resume that does not follow the advice you give candidates.

Working as a recruiter in France

Search for chargé de recrutement, chargée de recrutement, consultant en recrutement, talent acquisition specialist or chasseur de têtes for executive search. No diploma is regulated, but employers usually expect Bac+3 to Bac+5 in HR, business, psychology or a related field, and agencies sometimes recruit people from the sector they hire for. French law prohibits selection based on discriminatory criteria (origin, age, family situation, health and others), limits questions to what relates to the job, and requires GDPR-compliant handling of candidate data. Know the French contract types (CDI, CDD, intérim), the trial period and the role of APEC for managerial (cadre) positions.

Frequently asked questions

Is international recruitment experience valued in France?

Yes, especially in international groups and firms hiring abroad. French specifics still apply: knowledge of French contracts (CDI, CDD, intérim), the trial period, salary conventions and anti-discrimination rules. Show that you know them or are learning them.

Agency or in-house: does it matter on the resume?

Yes. Agency work implies business development, client relations and targets, while in-house work implies employer branding and close work with managers. Name the environment clearly so the recruiter can judge the fit.

Should I include a sourcing certification?

If you have one, add it in a training section. In France, practical evidence matters more: describe the hard-to-fill roles you filled through direct sourcing and the methods you used.
