Subject: Application: Agent de maintenance des bâtiments, [Employer], [City]

Dear [Recruiter's Name],

I am applying for the building maintenance position at [Employer]. For [x] years, I have looked after the buildings of a social housing landlord in [City], covering around [x] homes and their common areas. My role combines planned rounds in the buildings and requests that tenants send through the landlord's ticket system or by phone to the caretaker.

I handle tenant requests in plumbing, electricity and joinery, repaint common areas and prepare flats between tenants. I hold the habilitation électrique BS and I carry out monthly checks on emergency lighting and fire doors. Last winter, during a heating breakdown, I organised temporary heaters for the elderly tenants while waiting for the contractor and kept them informed until the repair was finished. I also manage the small stock of spare parts in our workshop and order supplies when needed. For lifts, boilers or roofing, I call the contracted companies, give them access and check the work before closing the ticket.

Your offer concerns schools and a sports hall, where I would bring the same reactivity. I am used to working around occupants and planning noisy work outside opening hours. I hold a driving licence and can take part in the on-call rota.

I am available for an interview and can start from [Date].

Yours sincerely,[First Name Last Name]

Frequently asked questions

Should I mention on-call availability?

If the offer mentions astreinte, yes. Say whether you live close to the site and can respond quickly. On-call duties are paid or compensated under French rules, and employers appreciate candidates who accept them clearly.

How do I apply to a social housing landlord?

Most landlords publish offers on their own website and on public job boards. Highlight tenant relations, rounds and preparation of flats between tenants. They also value experience with intervention tickets and safety registers.

Is a CAP necessary?

Not always. Experience in a building trade such as plumbing or painting often counts as much. A CAP or Titre professionnel helps you get interviews faster, especially in the public sector.
