Working as a sports coach in France
Search for éducateur sportif, educatrice sportive, entraîneur, coach sportif or moniteur de [sport]. This is a regulated profession under the Code du sport: to coach for pay you need a qualification listed in the code, such as a BPJEPS, DEJEPS, a STAPS degree or certain CQP, each limited to specific activities and audiences. You must also declare your activity and obtain a professional card (carte professionnelle d'éducateur sportif) from the departmental sports service, which includes a criminal record check. Coaches qualified elsewhere in the EU can apply for recognition. Volunteers in clubs are not subject to the same rules.
