Quality manager resume example

A responsable qualité owns the quality management system of a site or company.

In practice, that means keeping the ISO 9001 certification (and often ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 when the role is QSE), preparing and hosting certification and customer audits, running the internal audit programme and making sure corrective actions are actually closed. You build the quality indicators, present them at the management review and push departments to act on them. Customer complaints, supplier issues and major non-conformities end up on your desk when they need a decision. In a small company you may be the only quality person, writing procedures yourself; in a larger plant you manage technicians and engineers. When the role includes safety and environment, you also contribute to the risk assessment document (document unique) and work with the staff committee (CSE) on safety matters.

Career change

Former production manager who moved into quality after an ISO 9001 lead auditor certification. Having run workshops, I build quality systems that operators can apply, and I know how to get managers to own their actions.

Tips

  • State the certifications you obtained or maintained and the audits you led.
  • Specify team size and scope: one site, several sites, quality only or QSE.
  • Show a change in results, for example fewer complaints or closed actions.
  • Mention your relationship with management and the management review.
  • Add your lead auditor training if you hold it.

Mistakes to avoid

  • A resume full of documentation tasks and no impact on the business.
  • Not stating whether you manage people.
  • Mixing quality and QSE without detailing the safety and environment part.
  • Forgetting the sector, which defines the standards you master.

Working as a quality manager in France

Search for responsable qualité, responsable QSE, responsable QHSE, responsable assurance qualité or responsable système qualité. Employers usually expect a Bac+5: a master's degree in quality management, a diplôme d'ingénieur, or a licence professionnelle in quality plus solid experience. The job is not regulated, and ISO 9001 lead auditor training is a frequent plus. Positions are generally cadre. QSE roles require knowledge of French health and safety rules: the employer's document unique d'évaluation des risques professionnels, work with the CSE (staff committee) and, on some sites, environmental regulations for classified installations (ICPE). Fluent French is needed to lead audits and teams.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between responsable qualité and responsable QSE?

A responsable qualité focuses on product quality and the ISO 9001 system. A responsable QSE adds health and safety and environment, often with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, risk assessment and regulatory compliance. Read the ad carefully and highlight the matching experience.

Is the lead auditor certification necessary?

It is not compulsory, but it is often mentioned in ads. It shows you understand how certification bodies audit and can run your own audit programme. If you do not have it, highlight the audits you prepared and hosted.

How do I show results without confidential data?

Describe the direction of change and how you obtained it: audit passed without major findings, overdue actions cleared, complaints from a key customer reduced. Keep exact figures for the interview, where you can explain the context.
