Packer resume example

An agent de conditionnement works at the end of a production line or in a packing area, where finished products become units ready for sale or shipment.

Depending on the plant, you put cheeses into trays, fill boxes with cosmetics, check labels on bottles, or prepare pallets of cartons. Part of the work is manual, part is supervising a packing machine: feeding it with film, labels or cartons, checking weights and seals, and clearing jams. You check use-by dates (DLC) and lot numbers, remove defective items and record what has been packed. Pallets are moved with a pallet truck and wrapped in film. The pace is often set by the line, and many sites work in shifts, sometimes in cold rooms.

Working as a packer in France

The job is not regulated and is often open without a diploma. A CAP in industrial production, the Bac pro pilote de ligne de production or a CACES R485 (pallet trucks) or R489 (forklifts) help for permanent contracts. Hygiene rules apply in food plants, and many sites work in shifts, sometimes in cold rooms. Search « agent de conditionnement », « opérateur de conditionnement », « conditionneur », « emballeur » or « agent de production conditionnement ». Do not confuse with « préparateur de commandes », which is warehouse order picking. Temp agencies are a common entry point.

Frequently asked questions

Is a packer the same as an order picker?

No. A packer works in a plant, at the end of a production line, preparing products for sale. An order picker (préparateur de commandes) works in a warehouse, collecting items for orders. Choose the right French title when you search.

Do I need a diploma?

No, many plants hire without a diploma and train on the job. A CAP or Bac pro in production, or a CACES for pallet trucks or forklifts, helps you get permanent contracts and more varied tasks.

Should I list every temp mission?

Group them by sector: food, cosmetics, logistics. Give the main plants and products, and the tasks you did. This shows the range of your experience without filling the page with dates and agency names.
