Digital project manager resume example

A digital project manager delivers websites, apps and online services, from the first brief to the launch and the months of fixes that follow.

You gather the client's or the business team's needs, write or validate the specifications (the French « cahier des charges »), choose or brief the agency and developers, plan the sprints, and run the acceptance testing phase known as « recette ». Most of the day is coordination: a designer waiting for content, a developer blocked by an API, a marketing director who wants a new feature two weeks before launch. You also watch the budget and the schedule, and make sure the site meets French requirements on cookies (CNIL rules) and accessibility (RGAA). The job exists in web agencies, where you manage several clients at once, and in-house in companies that run their own e-commerce site or customer portal.

Tips

  • For each project, give the type (e-commerce, portal, app), your role and the team size you coordinated.
  • Show both sides if you have them: agency experience and client-side experience are valued differently.
  • Include a portfolio link with sites you delivered, if they are still online.
  • Name your methods precisely, including any Scrum or PMP certification.
  • Mention accessibility and GDPR work, which public sector and large company clients check.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Describing only tasks (« managed projects ») without saying which ones.
  • Overstating technical skills: say clearly if you do not code.
  • Forgetting the outcome: launch date respected, budget, user feedback.
  • Using the same resume for an agency role and an in-house role.

Working as a digital project manager in France

Access to digital project management in France is open: no diploma is required by law. Employers usually ask for a Bac+3 to Bac+5 in digital project management, communication, computer science or business, often obtained through work-study (« alternance »). Public sector websites and those of large companies must follow accessibility rules based on the RGAA, and the European Accessibility Act extends these obligations to many e-commerce services. Cookie consent follows CNIL guidelines. Search with « chef de projet web », « chef de projet digital », « chef de projet e-commerce » and « chef de projet MOA ».

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to code?

No, but you need to understand how a website is built well enough to discuss estimates and technical choices with developers. HTML and CSS basics, how an API works and what a deployment involves are enough for most roles. Say honestly where your technical knowledge stops.

Should I put a portfolio on my resume?

Yes. A short list of links to sites or apps you delivered, with one line on your role in each, lets recruiters see your work in seconds. Check that the sites are still online and still look like what you delivered.

Are agile certifications useful?

They help at screening stage, especially PSM or PSPO in companies using Scrum. They do not replace experience, so pair them with a project where you actually ran sprints, reviews and retrospectives.
