Search for assistant de service social, assistante sociale or ASS; also travailleur social, conseiller technique de service social and, in the public sector, assistant socio-éducatif. The title is protected: you need the Diplôme d'État d'assistant de service social (DEASS) or an authorisation to practise granted for a foreign qualification. Employers include départements, towns (CCAS), hospitals, the CAF and other social security bodies, companies, and schools. In local and hospital public services, permanent posts usually go through a concours, while contract posts remain open to other candidates.
