Working as a crane operator in France
Operating a crane in France requires a written driving authorisation from the employer, based on a medical fitness check and proof of competence, which in practice means a CACES: R487 for tower cranes, R483 for mobile cranes, R490 for loader cranes. Foreign licences are rarely accepted as they are. Training routes include the Titre professionnel conducteur de grue à tour and the CAP or BP conducteur d'engins: travaux publics et carrières, but many operators come from the site and add the CACES later.
