Subject: Application for a postal worker position, [City] delivery centre

Dear Sir or Madam,

Having done two summer replacements as a factrice, I would like to join the [City] delivery centre on a longer contract. I have lived in [area] for [x] years, I hold a car licence and I am used to starting work early.

Last summer I covered two rounds in [Town], one in the town centre on an electric bike and one in the surrounding villages by car. I learned each round in a few days, delivered registered letters with signatures and left notices for absent recipients without mistakes at check-in. Several elderly residents relied on my visit and I took time to answer their questions.

I am looking for a stable position and am interested in the new services postal workers now carry out, such as home visits. I am also open to an apprenticeship if it leads to a permanent post.

I can start on [date], and a trial round with one of your postal workers would show you how quickly I pick up a sector.

Yours faithfully,[First name Last name][Phone number]

Mistakes to avoid

  • Writing a general 'job seeker' letter that never mentions mail or rounds.
  • Not mentioning that you know the area.
  • Forgetting your availability for early starts and Saturdays.
  • Typos, which are very visible for a job based on addresses.

Frequently asked questions

Where should I send my application?

Most postal positions are published on La Poste's careers site and by public employment services. You can also apply spontaneously to your local delivery centre, especially before summer, when replacements are needed.

Should I mention my neighbourhood?

Yes. Living near the delivery centre is a real advantage with early starts, and knowing the streets, the hamlets and the business parks helps you learn a round faster. One sentence is enough.

Can I apply without delivery experience?

Yes. Talk about jobs where you worked outdoors, handled goods, met customers or had to be accurate with documents. The induction then covers the round itself, the sorting frame and the handheld device.
