Packer cover letter example

For packing jobs, the letter is short. Employers want to know which products you have packed, whether you are used to quality checks and packing machines, and which shifts you can work.

Clear, honest facts about your missions are better than general qualities such as motivation.

Subject: Application: Agent de conditionnement, [Company], [City]

Dear [Recruiter's Name],

I am applying for the packer position at your [City] plant. For [x] years, I have worked in packing in food plants, first through temp missions and then on a fixed-term contract in a cheese factory. Before that, I packed cosmetics on a line where every bottle had to be checked for label position and cap tightness.

I work on a semi-automatic line where I feed the machine with trays and film, check weights and seals and verify labels and use-by dates. I remove non-conforming products and record lots on the production sheet. I also prepare pallets with an electric pallet truck and wrap them for shipment. When a labelling error appeared on a batch, I stopped the packing and alerted the team leader, and we relabelled the products before they left the plant. I also clean my station and the machine at the end of each run, following the plant's hygiene procedure, and I hand over to the next team with a short note on any incident.

Your plant packs fresh products in cold rooms, an environment I know well. I am available for 2x8 shifts and weekends. I am used to wearing the protective clothing required in cold areas and I have a CACES R485 for electric pallet trucks.

I can start on [Date] and would be glad to come for an interview or a trial shift.

Yours sincerely,[First Name Last Name]

Frequently asked questions

Is a letter needed for temp work?

Usually not. A resume and a short message with your availability are enough. For permanent posts in larger plants, a short letter helps show reliability and interest in the company.

How do I show quality awareness?

Give an example of a defect you detected or a batch you stopped. Plants value packers who understand that a labelling or date error can lead to a costly product recall.

Should I mention cold rooms?

Yes, if the job involves them. Many food plants pack fresh products at low temperatures, and employers prefer candidates who already know the conditions, the protective clothing and the short breaks needed to warm up.
