Nursery assistant cover letter example

Crèche directors receive many applications and look for signs that you understand children under three and can work as part of a team. A precise moment with a child or a family says more than a list of qualities.

Keep it short.

Subject: Application for an auxiliaire petite enfance position, [Crèche name]

Dear [Hiring Manager's name],

Holder of the CAP Accompagnant éducatif petite enfance, I have spent [x] years at [Previous crèche], mostly in the babies' section, and I am writing about the auxiliaire petite enfance post at [Crèche name].

My work there covers the whole day: welcoming families, care routines, bottles and meals, naps and the evening handover. I pay attention to small signs, such as a child who eats less or sleeps badly, and I share them with the educator and the parents.

The settling-in period is the part I prefer. One little girl cried every morning for two weeks. With her mother, we decided to shorten the goodbye and give her a photo of the family to hold. Within a few days she was going straight to the play mat. Moments like this show me how much the first weeks shape a child's year.

I have read that your crèche works with free motor development and outdoor play in all seasons. These are practices I would like to deepen. I can work early or late shifts and I am available from [date].

Kind regards,[First name Last name][Phone number]

Frequently asked questions

Who recruits for municipal crèches?

Town halls recruit through their HR department, often as contract staff or on the grade of agent social or auxiliaire de puériculture. Look at the town's job page and the public service job site, and address your letter to the mayor with the crèche named in the subject.

Should I mention my own children?

It is not necessary and can seem off-topic. Recruiters want professional experience with groups of children. If parenting is your only experience, mention it briefly and focus on what you have learned in training or placements.

How long should the letter be?

Less than a page, four short paragraphs. Directors often read applications between two tasks, so get to your diploma, the age groups you know and your availability in the first lines.
