Working as a UX designer in France

In France the title is often kept in English: 'UX designer', 'Product designer' or 'UX/UI designer', and in the public sector you may also see 'Designer de services'. The profession is not regulated. Employers recruit from design schools (Strate, L'École de design Nantes, Gobelins), university masters in ergonomics or human-computer interaction, and increasingly from bootcamps. One French specificity is the RGAA, the national accessibility framework that public bodies and large companies must follow, so knowing it is a concrete advantage. English is common in tech teams, but user research with French customers requires good spoken French.

How to read these figures

The salary shown is an average, not a median: a few high salaries pull the average up. It is net pay before income tax, converted to full time.

The gross figure is an estimate: it applies 2026 employee contributions for a private-sector worker to the net salary. It leaves out bonuses, overtime and health insurance.

Salaries are from 2024 while the minimum wage is the 2026 one, so the comparison gives an order of magnitude.
