Working as a transport planner in France
The planner role is not regulated, but you must know EU driving and rest time rules and how the tachograph works. Usual French diplomas are the BTS Gestion des transports et logistique associée (GTLA), the BUT Management de la logistique et des transports or a titre professionnel in road freight operations; former drivers are also recruited. The attestation de capacité professionnelle is required only for the company's transport manager, not for planners. Fluent French is needed on the phone with drivers and customers. Search for « agent d'exploitation transport », « exploitant transport », « affréteur » or « planificateur transport ».
How to read these figures
The salary shown is an average, not a median: a few high salaries pull the average up. It is net pay before income tax, converted to full time.
The gross figure is an estimate: it applies 2026 employee contributions for a private-sector worker to the net salary. It leaves out bonuses, overtime and health insurance.
Salaries are from 2024 while the minimum wage is the 2026 one, so the comparison gives an order of magnitude.
