Working as a quality manager in France
Search for responsable qualité, responsable QSE, responsable QHSE, responsable assurance qualité or responsable système qualité. Employers usually expect a Bac+5: a master's degree in quality management, a diplôme d'ingénieur, or a licence professionnelle in quality plus solid experience. The job is not regulated, and ISO 9001 lead auditor training is a frequent plus. Positions are generally cadre. QSE roles require knowledge of French health and safety rules: the employer's document unique d'évaluation des risques professionnels, work with the CSE (staff committee) and, on some sites, environmental regulations for classified installations (ICPE). Fluent French is needed to lead audits and teams.
How to read these figures
The salary shown is an average, not a median: a few high salaries pull the average up. It is net pay before income tax, converted to full time.
The gross figure is an estimate: it applies 2026 employee contributions for a private-sector worker to the net salary. It leaves out bonuses, overtime and health insurance.
Salaries are from 2024 while the minimum wage is the 2026 one, so the comparison gives an order of magnitude.
