Working as a pharmacy technician in France
Préparateur en pharmacie is a regulated health profession: you need the French diploma, or an authorisation to practise for foreign qualifications, to dispense medicines. The training path changed recently: the former brevet professionnel (BP), usually done as an apprenticeship, is being replaced by a DEUST préparateur technicien en pharmacie, also widely done in alternance. Technicians always work under a pharmacist's control. Hospital posts may require additional training or experience in sterile preparations. Search for « préparateur en pharmacie », « préparatrice en pharmacie », « préparateur hospitalier » or « apprenti préparateur ».
How to read these figures
The salary shown is an average, not a median: a few high salaries pull the average up. It is net pay before income tax, converted to full time.
The gross figure is an estimate: it applies 2026 employee contributions for a private-sector worker to the net salary. It leaves out bonuses, overtime and health insurance.
Salaries are from 2024 while the minimum wage is the 2026 one, so the comparison gives an order of magnitude.
