Working as a network technician in France

No licence is needed to work as a network technician in France, but diplomas weigh heavily in hiring. The usual diplomas are the BTS SIO (option SISR, solutions d'infrastructure, systèmes et réseaux), the BUT Réseaux et télécommunications, and the titre professionnel TSSR (Technicien supérieur systèmes et réseaux), often prepared in work-study. CCNA is widely valued. For work in technical rooms or on electrical installations, some employers require an electrical safety habilitation, issued by the employer after a short training. A driving licence is often asked for. Search with « technicien réseaux », « technicien systèmes et réseaux », « technicien réseaux et télécoms » and « technicien d'intervention réseau ».

How to read these figures

The salary shown is an average, not a median: a few high salaries pull the average up. It is net pay before income tax, converted to full time.

The gross figure is an estimate: it applies 2026 employee contributions for a private-sector worker to the net salary. It leaves out bonuses, overtime and health insurance.

Salaries are from 2024 while the minimum wage is the 2026 one, so the comparison gives an order of magnitude.
