Working as an executive assistant in France
Search for assistant de direction, assistante de direction, assistant de direction bilingue or trilingue, secrétaire de direction, and office manager for mixed roles. No diploma is regulated, but recruiters expect a Bac+2 or Bac+3, most often a BTS SAM (Support à l'action managériale), a Titre Professionnel Assistant de Direction or a degree in applied languages. Bilingual and trilingual roles are concentrated in large cities and international groups, with English as the main second language. Senior positions supporting executive committees may come with cadre status, which changes working time arrangements under French labour rules.
How to read these figures
The salary shown is an average, not a median: a few high salaries pull the average up. It is net pay before income tax, converted to full time.
The gross figure is an estimate: it applies 2026 employee contributions for a private-sector worker to the net salary. It leaves out bonuses, overtime and health insurance.
Salaries are from 2024 while the minimum wage is the 2026 one, so the comparison gives an order of magnitude.
