Fast food restaurant manager resume example

A manager en restauration rapide runs shifts in a quick-service restaurant, usually a franchise or a chain outlet.

On a typical shift you open or close the restaurant, place crew members on the counter, kitchen, drive-through and delivery stations, and adjust the line-up when a rush starts or a crew member calls in sick. You check product quality and holding times, handle a customer complaint at the counter, count the tills and log the day's figures in the management system. Between rushes you train new crew members, run inventory, place orders with the central supplier and prepare the weekly schedule. Senior managers also follow the restaurant's profit and loss, prepare audits by the brand and take part in recruitment.

Tips

  • Name the brand and the format (drive-through, mall, city centre, delivery) because chains value experience in similar settings.
  • Show your progression: crew member, crew trainer, shift manager, assistant manager.
  • Use the vocabulary of the sector: positioning, labour, waste, audits, speed of service.
  • Mention the management systems you know.
  • If you have a degree, say so, but experience on the floor remains decisive.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Describing only customer service, without management of people and figures.
  • Leaving out closing shifts and cash handling, which signal trust.
  • Hiding a career that started as a crew member; it is a strength in this sector.
  • Forgetting availability for evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Working as a fast food restaurant manager in France

Search for "manager restauration rapide", "manager de restaurant rapide", "assistant manager" or "responsable de quart". The job is not regulated and many managers are promoted from crew positions through in-house programmes; others join with a BTS Management en hôtellerie-restauration or a business degree. At least one person in the restaurant must hold food hygiene training. Most outlets are run by franchisees and apply the national collective agreement for quick-service restaurants (restauration rapide), which sets rules on schedules, breaks and part-time work. Hours include evenings, weekends and bank holidays, and crews are largely made up of students on part-time contracts.

Frequently asked questions

Can I become a manager without a degree?

Yes. Many fast food managers started as crew members and were promoted internally after training. Chains run their own management programmes. A degree in hospitality or management can speed up direct hiring as an assistant manager, but floor experience counts most.

Should I name my former employer's brand?

Yes. Recruiters know the standards of each chain and can assess your experience immediately. If you worked for a franchisee, add the franchisee's company name or the number of restaurants it runs.

Should I mention the in-house training levels I completed?

Yes. Chains run internal management courses with named levels, and a franchisee from the same brand knows exactly what they cover. If you move to another brand, translate them into plain words (shift management, food safety, scheduling, people management) so the recruiter sees the content and not just the course name.
