Working as an in-house lawyer in France
The title juriste is not regulated, unlike avocat (attorney), which requires a law degree, the bar school and the CAPA. Most in-house lawyers hold a Master 2 in a specialised area of law, sometimes a CAPA, and French recruiters pay close attention to the programme and university. In-house legal advice has traditionally not enjoyed the professional secrecy that protects avocats, a point still debated, and an avocat who joins a company as an employee must ask to be removed from the bar roll (omission).
